What is the difference between a Debit and ATM card?
A Debit Card is similar to a credit card except that it is tied directly to your checking account, so you can only spend up to the amount available in your account at the time you use your card* (or up to your daily spending limit). Debit cards can be used at stores, for online purchases and to withdraw cash from an ATM by using your PIN number.
An ATM Card allows you to withdraw cash from an ATM machine with the use of your PIN number. ATM cards can also be used for Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions at participating merchants including many grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations.
*Even if a transaction is approved, your account may become overdrawn if other items post to your account before the debit card transaction completes. Benchmark does not charge a fee for overdrafts due to ATM or one-time debit card transactions.
What happens if I can’t remember my PIN and I keep typing it in wrong?
If you fail to remember your PIN and type it in incorrectly up to three times, your card will be set to a “warn” status and you will be unable to use the card. You will need to contact a Personal Banker at 972.673.4000 and they will be happy to reset this number.
How do I reset my PIN?
Contact your Personal Banker at 972.673.4000 and they can easily reset this number for you.
What do I do if I lose my debit or ATM card?
If it is during business hours, please call 972.673.4000 and ask for a Personal Banker who can close your current card and order you a new one. If it is over the weekend or at night, please call 800.523.4175 and they will change the status of your card to “lost” preventing any new/fraudulent transactions from going through.

What is the registration process for Online Banking?
Once you submit the online registration form and receive a confirmation email, you will be approved within 24-48 hours. After this time, you can login with your full Social Security Number and the password you chose when you filled out the registration form. Once you have entered the site, it will immediately ask you to change both your “Customer Number” and password. Please note that your “Customer Number” (aka Online ID) does not have to be a number; however, it is case sensitive.
In Online Banking, what is my “Customer Number”?
When you first register for online banking, your “Customer Number” is your full Social Security Number. Another way of looking at the “Customer Number” is to consider it your Login Name or “Online ID”. The first time you sign in to your online banking, you will be asked to change your “Customer Number”. You can make this anything you wish and it does not have to be a number, i.e. your first initial, last name; however, this “Online ID” is case sensitive. You can change this “Online ID” to anything you want once you are logged into your account, by going to the upper right hand corner under “User Options”.
What happens if I forget my Online Banking password?
As a security precaution, if you enter the password incorrectly three times in a row, you are blocked from accessing Benchmark Bank’s online services. In this event, or if you forget your password, please call 972.673.4000 and someone can reset it for you or click here.
How do I research past transactions on my Online Banking?
On the main screen, click on the account that you would like to view. At the bottom under “View Another Date Range”, adjust the dates to see the date range you are interested in researching. You can access transactions as far back as the date you registered for the service or up to one year if you have been an Online Banking user for over a year. If you need to see transactions before that date, please contact your Personal Banker who can provide you with past statements or account history.
How do I get Quicken to sync with my Benchmark accounts?
You must first sign up for Direct Connect, which allows for the transfer of information between Benchmark Bank’s server and Quicken, QuickBooks or Microsoft Money. Click here to register. Once you are approved, you can then sync Quicken with your Benchmark account information.

How do I order checks for my account?
For all new orders, please call your Personal Banker at 972.673.4000 as they will need to place the order for you. If it is a reorder, please click here.
How do I change my address in the system?
Please fill out our online form. Someone will call you within 2 days to verify this change.
What information do I need to wire funds?
Please provide your Personal Banker with the following information:
- Your name and account number
- Your best contact phone number
- Recipient Name
- Recipient Account Number
- Recipient Bank Routing/Swift Code
- US/Foreign dollar amount to be transferred
All requests that are received by email or fax will be verified by phone before they can be sent.
How do I inquire about your CD rates?
For our most current CD rates, view our online rate chart. You can also call us at 972.673.4000. Rates will always be quoted in APY over the phone.
What is APR/APY?
The Annual Percentage Rate, or APR, is a measure of how much interest will be accrued on an annual basis without taking into account compound interest.

How do I know if I should open a CD or a Benchmark Account?
First look at our current rates. For the amount of money you are investing, does the rate make sense to put it in a CD or a Benchmark Account? Can you risk the chance of paying a penalty if you need to access the funds before the CD’s maturity date? If not, put it in our Benchmark Account and access the money at any time. What are your normal business hours?
Our Plano, Park Cities and Uptown branches are open Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our Austin branch is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We observe the same holiday schedule as the Federal Reserve. Notice of any holidays or early closings will always be posted in our lobby at least a week in advance.
Where are you located?
Benchmark currently has three retail bank locations in the Dallas area - one in The Shops at Legacy in Plano, one in Snider Plaza in University Park and one in Uptown. Benchmark also has a bank location in Austin, TX at the corner of Lamar and MLK. Our Plano and University Park locations also houses our affiliate, Benchmark Title, on the second floor.
