Dr. John Schumacher has been selected as the recipient of the Barbara Stark Baxter, MD, Medical Volunteer of the Year Award!

“Since we entered our 30th year serving Dallas we decided to honor my dear friend and an original volunteer with Agape.  John was always willing to fill in for me in the early days, and has continued to serve Agape, by volunteering in Clinic, seeing our patients for free in his practice, and by co-chairing our first LOVE Agape dinner,” Agape Clinic founder and Medical Director, Dr. Barbara Baxter.

For 30 years the Agape Clinic has been providing primary medical care to the working poor of Dallas.  The Clinic provides the community with over 7,200 patient visits and over 3 million dollars worth of medical care each year. Their mission is to improve the health of medically underserved people by providing quality community health services.  The Clinic provides acute care for illnesses and ongoing care for patients with chronic health issues such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.  In addition, they also provide specialy care for the following women’s health, neurology, pediatrics, dermatology, psychiatry and allergy testing.  Greater than 95% of their patients receive medications free of charge and our dedicted medical staff is primarily volunteers.

Congratulations to Dr. John Schumacher!
